Kaiyukan, located in Osaka, is one of the largest public aquariums in the world. It showcases various aquatic creatures from the Pacific Rim, divided into 14 different habitats.
Visitors start their journey by descending an escalator into the "Aqua Gate" tunnel, surrounded by an enormous aquarium that holds thousands of fish. Then, visitors explore different habitats featuring sea otters, penguins, jellyfish, and various fish, including hammerhead sharks and giant manta rays. The most impressive habitat is the massive "Pacific Ocean" tank, which holds whale sharks, the largest fish in the world, along with several other species of sharks and rays.
Kaiyukan also features interactive exhibits, such as the "Interactive Fun Lab," where visitors can touch and learn about starfish and sea urchins, and the "Interactive Dive," which simulates a deep-sea dive with a virtual guide.
The aquarium is open year-round, and the hours vary depending on the season. Visitors can purchase tickets online in advance or at the entrance. There are also various packages available that include admission to other attractions in the Osaka Bay Area.
