Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park is a peace memorial park located in Naka Ward, Hiroshima City, and includes the Atomic Bomb Dome and the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum was opened in 1955 with the aim of abolishing nuclear weapons and achieving lasting peace in the world. The Atomic Bomb Dome was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1996 as a symbolic building that conveys the threat of nuclear weapons. The Bell of Peace was selected as one of the 100 Best Soundscapes of Japan to Preserve, and is one of the monuments that symbolize the wish for peace. Nearby attractions include Hiroshima Castle. To get there, take the tram from JR Hiroshima Station and get off at Genbaku Dome-mae.
